This November we were delighted to host the Green Motion International Conference. Leading providers of environmentally friendly car hire and leasing, Green Motion transformed East Wintergarden with a day-to-night event in the centre of Canary Wharf. The company’s low Co2 fleet of vans and automobiles – driven directly into the spaces via the street-level loading entrance– were presented beautifully on the polished polychrome marble floor. At the top of the space, a black onyx stage was set up against a privacy canopy rigged directly to the steels of the building.
The daytime conference was hosted by radio and television presenter Anton Savage. As well as keynote talks and presentations, the schedule included panels on operations, commercial activities and on the wider impact of the industry. The day ended with a gala dinner and award ceremony, which saw the main space transformed into a 1920s speakeasy. Playing off the art deco surrounding of the glasshouse, performers invoked the Great Gatsby, with a jazz singer, cabaret dancers and aerial artists working with silk ribbons hung from the dome’s roof. Between the multicoloured light display and the carefully crafted three-course menu, it was a stellar example of how to make the most of this special venue.
